What We Believe

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”

Vision Statement

In years to come let it be said, “Here was a group of Christlike, New Testament believers, fully aware of the challenges of their post-modern culture who gathered by a creek (like many of their forefathers) for the purpose of teaching, preaching, baptism, worship, revival – and the restoration of the wounded – so that when they left the banks of the creek they might take the Gospel to the whole world.”

THE GOSPEL

The Gospel is the message of the good news of Jesus, how He died for our sins, was buried, and rose alive again to offer us forgiveness. This message can be explained quite simply, and yet is complex at the same time.

REALIZE THAT GOD LOVES YOU AND WANTS YOU TO KNOW HIM.

Jesus did not come into the world to condemn us, but so that He could demonstrate His love for us! “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

UNDERSTAND YOUR SINFUL CONDITION.

The Bible says that all people have rebelled against God and His good truth. Our sins have separated us from God. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23

God made us in His own image, with creative minds, higher and distinct than the whole of the animal kingdom. He also gave us a free will with the choice to love and trust Him or not. Sadly, mankind chose, and still chooses the darkness of evil. Our own sin keeps us separated from God.

SIN HAS ETERNAL CONSEQUENCES.

We have sinned against our Creator and His good way. Our breaking of God’s law cannot be lightly dismissed or brushed aside. “For the wages of sin is death….” Romans 6:23

If not remedied, the eternal consequence of our sin is to continue to be separated from God, His light, and His love, forever. This is the just punishment of our sin. But God is “not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9

JESUS IS THE SOLUTION

God wants you to be reconciled to Him. Jesus died on the cross, voluntarily, to be your substitute. Jesus was punished for our sins, the Just One taking on the consequences for the unjust. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8

But Jesus did not just die. Three days after being buried, He came alive again, conquering death by His own power! Jesus can offer us forgiveness of sins and eternal life because He is the Resurrection and the Life.

REPENT AND ASK JESUS TO SAVE YOU.

To repent is to understand that what one believed was wrong, and to believe the truth. Repentance and faith in Jesus will result in changed actions. Admit to God that you have done wrong to break His laws, and wrong to think that it did not matter! “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13

Faith is choosing to believe that what God says is true. Believe that Jesus died for your sins, and that He rose again to give you everlasting life!

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” John 5:24

Doctrinal Statement (Irrevocable)

BIBLE
I believe that the Bible is the verbally inspired Word of God, His revelation to man, inerrant in the original writings; and that it is therefore the supreme and final authority in all matters of doctrine, faith and life. (II Tim 3:15-17; II Peter 1:19-21; Hebrews 1:1; Psalm 119:160).

GOD
I believe in the Holy Trinity (God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit) [Deut 6:4; Gen 1:26; Matt 3:16, 17; John 1:1, 2; 10:30; 15:26]: that Jesus Christ is eternal, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, took our judgment for sin when He died on the cross and shed His precious blood, was raised from the dead on the third day, appeared to His disciples after the resurrection, ascended back to Heaven, and is coming again for His saints in the event known as the rapture [Jn 3:16; 10:30; Matt 1:18-25; Gal 4:4,5; Phil 2: 6-10; Heb 4:15; 10:10; II Cor 5: 19, 21; I Pet 3:18]; that the Holy Spirit is the blessed third person of the Trinity, and that He convicts the sinner, saves him, and indwells the believer [Jn 14:16-18; 16:7-13; I Cor 12:13; Eph 1:13; 4:30].

SATAN
I believe in the existence of a real devil who was created as an angel of light, and through his rebellion against God, was cast out of Heaven with those angels who followed him in the rebellion, and now those angels serve him as demon spirits [Isa 14:12-15; Ezek 28:12-19; II Cor 4:3, 4; I Pet 5:8; Rev 12:9, 10; Luke 10:18]

MANKIND
I believe the Genesis account of creation in which man was created spontaneously by God and was without sin in the creation; that man, by choice, rebelled against God, and because of this sin, became totally depraved and incurred the penalty of death through his sin [Gen 1:1, 26, 27; Rom 5:12,-19; Psa 51:5; Gal 3:11; Rom 3:10, 11, 23; II Cor 5:14, 15, 19]; that man can only be rightly related to God through the experience of the New Birth, and that this birth is the salvation experience and can only be experienced by repentance of sin and personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; that the believer is eternally saved and can never be lost [Jn 1:12; 3:3-5; Gal 3:26; I Jn 3:1, 2; Jn 10:27-29; Rom 5:8-11; 8:35-39; 11:29; Heb 7:25; Jn 5:9-13; Jude 1].

THE CHURCH
I believe in the prominence of the visible church; that the church of the Lord Jesus Christ is His visible organism to carry out the Great Commission in this age, and that one cannot be true to the scriptures and disassociate himself from the ministry of the local gospel preaching church [Acts 2:41-47; 14:27; Eph 4:11-16; 5:26, 27; I Tim 3:1-15; Titus 1:5-11].

END TIMES
I believe in the rapture of the church when Christ will take away His saints to be with Him and will return to earth with the saints to set up His earthly kingdom for 1,000 years, and that the kingdom will be followed by eternity future [I Thess 4:13-17; Titus 2:12, 13; I Cor 15:51-57; Rev 19:11-16; 20:1-9; Phil 2:9-11].

ETERNITY
I believe in the conscious eternal blessedness of the saved [I Thess 4:14-17; Rev 21, 22; Jn 14:1-6; Phil 1:21-23; Jn 11:25, 26], and the conscious eternal punishment of the wicked in hell and the lake of fire [Rev 20:11-15; 21:8; Mark 9:48; Rom 6:23; Matt 25:30, 41; Luke 13:28].
